How to do it

Soak the straw for min. 4 hours. Then cut 121 short pieces of straw each measuring 5 cm and 66 long pieces of straw each measuring 10 cm. Make a square from brass wire and 4 short pieces of straw. Twist the brass wire ends to secure the square. Handle the straw with care to prevent it from splitting.

Make a triangle from brass wire and two short pieces of straw diagonally from two opposite corners of the square. Feed the brass wire through one of the pieces of straw in the square.

Make another triangle from two short pieces of straw diagonally from the other two opposite corners of the square, making a pyramid shape. Twist the brass wire around the top of the pyramid after attaching the first piece of straw as shown in the photo.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 so that there now are two pyramids.

Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 with the long pieces of straw.

Make a square from three short pieces of straw using one of the sides of the assembled shape.

Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 with short pieces of straw. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with long pieces of straw.

Attach two long pieces of straw and connect the two free corners with the bottom made from the long pieces of straw, making a point. This will be the middle of the star. Repeat all the way round until the star is complete.
